Many are called, but few re chosen

The theory of predestination, so important for calvinists and other reformed churches, stems from the Book of Revelation (which was written relatively late), Anyway, there is no hint to predestination in the Gospel or more generally in the sayings of Christ. The saying in Matthee 22 "many are called, but few are chosen", means (if you read the parable which comes before) "many were asked, but few answered", and has more to do with personal responsability than with predestination.
