The curse of postmodernism in science

Postmodernism ravaged in the 80s in fine arts and then passed without much trace. The footprint in literature was deeper, but the problem is that the ideas of postmodernism arrived recentlyin scicen  (probably in coincidence with the spread of computer), Concepts such as story-telling and narrative are firmly established in science with dramatic consequences. Postmodernism is a curse in itslef, but in science it is particularly negative since science is based on the belief that truth exists (although nobody knows it) and is incompatible with the idea of narrative.

In the last number of PNAS there is a very interesting paper which analyses the phylogenetic diversity of mammals, comparing endangered, not endangered and extinct lineages. The true title is "phylogenetic diversity in mammals" but it was rephrased as "storytelling" "it will take 5 millions years to recover from the current extinction criss. This is not only trivial, it is also misleading. The only advantage is that it is suited to make a meme.

An I don't want to speak of the many fashionable, but unineteresting papers I read.
