Looking over one's shoulder

A politician said that the only way to know who is stabbing you in the back is to look at the reflex in the eyes of  who is in front of you. It is a beautiful quote, since it invites to use the others as a mirror, which is always a good advice. Nonetheless, and contrary to the appearence, this wiity public man was a very bad politician. In fact, a good politician (or a good soldier, it's the same, politics is war) is perfectly skilled in looking over his shoulder and always looks over his shoulder. But this works only if you are commited to a cause and are completely unselfish. Otherwise, it doens't work The paradigm of treason - Judas - was in fact unmasked in advance, and his treason succeeded only because it had to succeed. In other words, contrary to the common view, politics is not filth. A good politician must be astute as a snake (and strong as a lion), but also pure a s a lamb. Unluckily, good politicians are extraordinarily rare - I dare say that you have a better chance to find one in your life outside the governments and the parliaments.
