Nnth symphony

It is well known that Beethovem in his ninth Symphony, attempted in an almost impossible task, to merge symphony with song. This is impossible because symphony and song have very different harmonic and rythmic propreties: symphony derives fundamentally from dance (and many of Beethoven's symnphonies are beautiful examples of dances), whereas song is something completely different. And in fact the attempt basically failed, as can be seen particularly well in the development of the theme of the Ode to Joy afteer the first part of the last momevement; and yet in the last phraases of the movement he eventually succeeds, by splitting the chorus musical line into small "pieces" with strong rythmic accent, that can be merged with the dancing rythm of the orchestra.
