A tre anni mio padre - che voleva che diventassi un politico - mi insegnò la dialettica. Che poi era il metodo che Platone indicava - assieme alla matematica - per aprire l'occhio interiore. Per questo amo moltissimo la canzone di battiato. E poi comincia con Scalambrto che cita Omero.

low literacy

The hopeless lack of law literacy of the Italians, even the more educated, has always been a surprise to me. A surprise, since the rule of law was invented by te Romans and the common law which is the base of the rule of law in the Anglo-Saxon world is fundamentally nothing else than the Corpus Juris with some adaptations.
This lack of literacy is probably due to the fact that in Italian high school law is not taught - in fact people following vocational studies, where law is part of the curricula, jave a good basic grasp of the subject. But probably other reasons are also involved - in particular the fact that a few of the fundamental principles of the rule of law, such as "all are equal for the law" is drastic ally at odd with the basic tenets of Italian ideaology.

computer e post-moderno

Anche se l'importanza dell'informatica sullla configurazione attuale del mondo è a dir poco lampante (i cosiddetti movimenti populisti sono per esempio figli dei social), l'armamentario culturale e ideologico con cui maneggiamo questo rivoluzione tecnologica in realtà si discosta di pochissimo dal postmodernismo degli anni '80. Le idee di Noah harari, pere sempio (almeno a giudicare dalla recensione che ne fa l'Economist, che tuttavia di solito è attendibile) in sostanza dice ben poco di diverso da quello che profetizzava "blade runner". Forse il motivo è nel fatto che siamo solo agli inizi, e che l'intelligenza artificiale è ancora assolutamente embrionale (il riconoscimento facciale e più in generale dei pattern è stato un grandissimo balso in avanti, ma la pecora è perfettamente in grado di fare il riconoscimento facciale).

Ecology and chemistry

In the previous posters (I and II) I pointed out the anomaly of ecology where the focus is on statistics instead that on the eponym discipline. Somebody may say that in ecology the general principles are few and that the number of living species and of types of ecosystems is so huge that it is impossible to manage. This rebuttal does not takes into account that also chemical compounds are millions, and yet a chemist is required  to know not only the generalities of the composition of the different classes of compounds  but also the conditions and details of the reactions - otherwise you are not a chemist, you are a middle school teacher of science. Maybe the true reason of the anomaly of ecology is that it is not considered truly a science, and that therefore it is pointless to put in ecology the same effort that chemists put in learning and studying chemistry.

Ecology II

Physicists study physics, chemists study chemistry, biologists study biology. And their training is based on these disciplines. Ecologists, instead, study statistics,.. Maybe the reason is that counting plants and telling birds is not cool, but i believed that the unit of measurement of science is knowledge, not fashionability.

Collapsing bridges, crumblingconcrete

The episode of the collapse of the bridge in Genoa has a deeper meaning than the rapacity of Italian capitalists and poor state of infrastucture in Italy. There was a time when there was an aesthetic of concrete ("béton brut") whihc represented progress and the beauty of modernity. And now we realize that reinforced concrete after only a few decades is crumbling, and that our civilistationsrisks to leave nothing of its architectonical endeavours in striking contrast with the eternity of the pyramids and the Roman aqueducts. It is a sad morale that the objects of the mdoernsit revolution are crumpling and perishable. It seems nonetheless that if concrete is added with some types of organic material it becomes super strong - maybe ecology is treally the answer to the crise of modernity.

Rivedendo accattone quello che più mi colpisce è quanto Pasolini fosse lontano dal PCI (il lavoro visto come un lager, l'esaltazione del sottoproletariato) e vicino invece alla sinistra extraparlamentare. Politica economica trumpiana

Trump gongola perché l'economia americana dopo tanti anni va a gonfie vele. Ovviamente non è merito suo, ma di Obama, che ha passato 8 anni a rimettere in piedi un Paese distrutto da Bush con una politica economica energica, anche se purtroppo non coraggiosa - nel cercare di toccare il meno possibile gli interessi della grande finanza, cosa che è costata ai democratici la sconfitta. Curiosamente nessun democratico lo sottolinea.

La politica economica di Trump invece - dazi più tagli alle tasse dei più ricchi - è invece una ricetta perfetta per far entrare l'America in recessione. Solo che non avverrà subito, avverò tra sei anni quando Trump avrò finito il secondo mandato. E ricomincerà la giostra, con l'Europa che entra in recessione .....

Arte , sezione aurea, proporzioni

Se si confrontano una statua greca con le meravigliose state di Ife (inizialmente si credette che fossero opere greche, in quanto era impossibile che dei selvaggi avessero creato tali capolavori) si nota un naturalismo meno perfetto nelle sculture africane, soprattutto una scarsa proporzione t ra le parti del corpo che probabilmente è voluta (in quanto enfatizza il volto) ma che è anche collegata alla mancanza, nell'arte africana, dell'interesse per la matematica che avevano i greci e che li portò alla scoperta della sezione aurea come fondamento delle proporzioni del corpo umano (il partenone, che è fondato sulla sezione aurea, è la rappresentazione astrattissima di un corpo umano).

Responsabilità

Gli italiani non si prendono mai le loro responsabilitò (sembrano un po' John Belushi quando incontra la moglie nei "blues brothers2: c'è stata l'alluvione, le cavallette..), però pensano che per tutto ci sia una responsabilitò penale, anche per quei problemi, tanti, che sono di natura sistemica, come per esempio l'incompetenza. L'incompetenza si può e deve essere evitata ed è più nociva del furto per la società, ma non è penalmente rilevante.
