I have read with pleasture "the geometry of love" by John Cheever. He talks of a man who tries to rationalise the irrationality of life (the main theme of Cheever) by means of Euclide and of course loses. The story is wonderful, but Cheever is obviously unfamiliar w3ith the true nature of geometry: love for mathematics is love for god, and it is this love, not reason or detachment that rationalises the (apparent?) irrationality of life.
